Disclaimer: these are pictures from the Fishkill dog park.

I was going  for my regular morning walk with my dad this morning and low and behold there were guys with trucks up on the field. I had to go check them out and see who was on my turf. They ended up being the fence guys and were waiting for the surveyor guys!

It is coming. Hopefully this year!

Later this afternoon we went walking again and there are all sorts of markings and markers where the fence is going. If the storm doesn’t spoil things they may start this week. Holy Crap! I can’t wait. I have so much fun at the other dog park I amy never want to go home. Every time my dad takes me out for a walk I know where I will want to go.

I hope to meet a lot of friends, get to run around a lot and play. I’m gonna’ be “a regular”.

Life Lesson: Have fun, play with friends, and have your own special place.

The Beacon Barkery !

It was like Christmas today! My dad took me to the Beacon Barkery and we went wild!

He got me TWO frozen marrow bones…..and

a really, really nice sales lady with her assistant, (had good dog smell on them) gave me an entire bag of chicken treats, which are incredible. They are made in the US and are just dried chicken breast, (too bad for the chicken), scrumptious. At first when they came in I barked at them. I thought they were going to try and take all the food and I want this to be mine, mine all mine…Yeah, I was staking a claim for this to be my turf. Then she tried to give me some catfish treat, blah…give that to a cat…I’m not bought off so easily that is when she broke out those chicken treats and we became friends, (ok, I am kinda’ easy). My dad also bought me a bag of my favorite little snacky when I go for a walk treats……AND….

He also got me some thin chew sticks ..AND what he calls Dog Food Cold Cuts. It is “Natural Balance” dog food in a big Salami like tube that he mixes in with my dry bland boring kibble to make it, uh, more better…..AND!!!!!!!!

Yes, That’s Right….a SUPER COOKIE! It is some sort of homemade peanut butter and Heaven cookie! I know it is a home made treat, but  I think it is also made with magic or something.

I am so spoiled and that is so good!

Meet My Little Friend

Hi, Sometimes you have to look far and wide for friends. Not just any friends but Good Friends. Some friends will be with you just when things are going well and everything is fun. But real friends will stick with you through thick and thin. they will support you and stay your friend when things are going bad for you, because they know that when things go bad for them that you will be there,  (or were there already), for them. There are some “fair weather” friends but the best are “rainy day” friends.

I look and I try to meet others, but some get pulled away, sometimes I get snarls, and some just run away. Sigh. “Is it Me?” “Is there something wrong with me?” Sometimes I feel like Ginormica from the movie Monsters vs. Aliens.

I have made some very good friends and hopefully when the Beacon Dog Park opens I will be able to make more. I want friends to play with.

Life Lesson: It is not the qauntity of friend, It is the QUALITY of friends that counts.

Playing With Someone My Own Size!

What do you know, I am not a Freak. There are others like me!

Everyone kept asking my mom and dad, “why am I so big”? “Why do you guys want a big dog”? Some people would even walk away from me, avoid me, and ignore me. Sometimes it kinda’ made me feel bad. Like I don’t belong. Like I should move to “the island of misfit toys”.

Some other dogs would bark at  me, not a “come lets play” bark, but more of a “hey you, stay away from me” bark.

Sometimes I would have other dogs to play with and they would be friendly, but they were to small, so I always had to be carefull or you could tell the attached humans were worried about all sorts of things. (these worrying type of  humans are especially hard to train).

Then one day while playing in the park after a lot of running around, boy was I tired, but then out of nowhere, “BAM!” Some guy pulls up and from out of his car pops a doggy my size! Well almost.

His name is “Moonshine” he’s a Cane Corso, sort of like my Italian cousin. Moonshine is 9 months old and 120lbs. I am 9 1/2 months and 145lbs. so it is kinda’ close.  I am still big enough to drool on his back…..and his head. We had so much fun running around, he was very nice and I was also on my best behavior, (this is code words for we didn’t try to hump each other also no growling, biting, or snapping).

It was good to meet someone like me and to learn I am not alone. I can’t wait for the Beacon dog park to be built so we can meet and play again. Hopefully I will find more “freaks” like me.

Life Lesson: No matter who you are, you are not alone. It is always possible to find a kindred spirit somewhere and it will come when you least expect. Don’t give up!
