I had a hard time sleeping last night. My stomach would not stop gurgling. I had a few mushy poops. I feel like I need to go more, but I couldn’t. I would assume the pooping position and wait, and wait, I feel like it was coming but nothing would.
I tried to sleep at my parent’s bed, but I couldn’t get comfortable there either. Finally, in the middle of the night, in the middle of a thunderstorm, just as my dad was beginning to fall asleep, in spite of my trying not to, I diarrhea’d all over the bedroom carpet.
My dad got upset and carried me out into the rain so I will not poop in the house anymore. My mom, who said at the onset that she will not clean up poop, did, and got worried because she noticed blood in it.
My dad drove himself nuts trying to think of what he did (or did not do) that caused my diarrhea. The suspects: the worms that I ate the day before, my drinking from a common water bowl at the pet store, my eating one of my chew hides, and my mom’s feeding me kare-kare 2 weeks ago.
The vet said I probably just have a stomach virus. He wasn’t worried about the blood – apparently it is common in dogs. He had my dad make boiled chicken and rice – finally real food! He cautioned against meds like PeptoBismol because of my age (3 months). He suggested that I drink Pedialyte to keep me from getting dehydrated.
It has been more than 24 hours, but I think I am starting to feel better.
